This 5-day intensive in-person and hands-on training program prepares the novice grant writer and fortifies the experienced grant writer to prepare, write and submit winning public safety government grant proposals! This course is offered to sworn and non-sworn members of police departments, municipalities and public safety grant consultants.
Previous grant writing experience is not necessary, just a winning attitude and a competitive nature!
Participants will gain the skill set necessary to find, apply for, and win government grants. There is a tremendous volume of information presented in this program that is best absorbed in person with like-minded professionals in a supported and connected environment. The GAPS learning experience is engaging and interactive in a relaxed environment that fosters discussion and brainstorming. Evidence-based policing, organizational capacity and internal needs assessment are integral topics for police departments to be grant ready for their new public safety initiatives.
The GAPS credential is issued to students who successfully demonstrate proficiency in the required competencies (click on Competencies button below for more information). Certified testing takes place on Day 5.
Certification is a rigorous process that validates the student's expertise, skills and ethical standards in the grant profession. The GAPS Certified Grant Specialist credential is the industry standard for professionals in the field of grant writing. Your credential will be good for four years from the date of issuance. For professional development, renewal of the certification may be earned through renewal credits. (Click on Maintaining Your Certification button below for more information)
Students should bring a laptop computer with a working USB drive and access to Microsoft Word and Excel for assignments and certification testing.
