Honorary Certification

There are two different ways the experienced grant writer and GAPS member can obtain an honorary certification from GAPS without participating in GAPS Grant Specialist Trainings. 

#1: For grant professionals who hold an active grant writing credential from 

another entity

• Provide a copy of your active grant credential
• Provide proof of employment in the public safety sector or independent consultant in the public sector with a minimum of 2 years grant writing experience

#2: For the successful grant writer with no active credential

• A minimum of 10 years' experience in grant writing/management (resume)
• Provide grant award information in excess of $100,000 for the past two years 
• Provide a letter from your public safety employer identifying the grant writer as the   sole writer for the awarded grants

Your credential will be active for five years.
